Tasks and Responsibilities

The content developer is expected to:

Go through the edited materials to familiarise themselves with the content

Re name the script appropriately including version control

Develop the script

Suggest and source for additional graphics to complement the content

Develop checkpoint questions and answers

Carry out peer reviews for completed scripts

Convert the scripted materials using the recommended software

Review the converted materials (CBT) after conversion for quality assurance 

Education and Training Requirements

Strong PC skills and expertise in MS Office (Word, Excel and Power point)

Ability to understand and communicate concepts quickly and accurately

Good communication skills

Desire to continuously learn new features of content development tools and software

Good writing, editing and proofreading skills

High attention to detail

Ability to prioritise, schedule and meet deadlines

Ability to work both independently and within a team

Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic team
 

Expectations
The content developers are expected to assume the role of a communicator


Ensure flow of the content both in the script and after conversion to eLearning and see that it is clearly communicated including graphics, photos, simulations, activities and so on.

Note and communicate queries and make the necessary amendments to the content.

Deliverables
Electronic version of completed script including suggestions for or actual additional graphics to complement the materials

Completed review template for the CBT materials
Converted CBT materials

Other Requirements

Have a PC or unlimited access to one with Microsoft Office

Have an email address that is regularly accessed
 

Remuneration

The terms of remuneration will be per unit. A unit is defined as 50 pages of edited material and the cost per unit is Kshs 2,500.00

Purpose of the Post:

Major duties and responsibilities:

Undertake field visits to UNICEF project sites for the purpose of orientation to project activities and local conditions. Prepare routine reports on results of visits and project progress.

Collect and assemble data and background information with regard to programmes/ projects and provide updated information of programmes/ project financial and administrative status for analysis and report purposes. Analyze programme/ project and recommend appropriate adjustments. Prepare tables, graphs or other statistical data for technical review/ monitoring purposes.

Provide technical assistance in planning and implementation of the hygiene and sanitation and WASH in schools component of the WASH programme.

Monitor the flow of supply and non-supply assistance to local authorities. Draft supply and financial reports and other necessary monitoring documentation. Collect and record information on supply/ non-supply inventory, distribution and utilization. Assist in developing of appropriate messages and hygiene promotional materials to promote key aspects of hygiene behavior in consultation with implementing partners, relevant government ministries and local authority.


Investigate queries regarding authorization, delivery or payments and follow up with finance, administrative, supply and programme staff on processing of payments, advances to governments and liquidation of accounts. Ensure that activities are in accordance with work plan of action.

Communicate with counterpart local authorities on project details. Recommend courses of action particularly on Sanitation & Hygiene and WASH in Schools.

Arrangements for visits to project sites for government and other partners, which include providing information and briefing on project activities and status, in particular orientation and briefing on sanitation projects.

Draft programme budgets ensuring accuracy and appropriateness of coding in accordance with PIDB system. Draft and issue updated status reports.

Contribute to the preparation of relevant sanitation and hygiene monthly and donor progress reports, proposals, surveys, briefing documents for management and annual reports etc. as necessary and other reports as required by HQ.

Minimum Qualification and Experience

· University degree in public health, social sciences, environmental health/ science, water resources, civil engineering or other area closely related to sanitation and hygiene.

· Three (3) year progressively responsible experience at professional level in programme design, administration, monitoring and evaluation in related field.

· Fluency in English and Somali.

· Knowledge of local working language of the duty station an asset.

· Communication, analytical and training skills.

· Good knowledge of computer management and applications.

· Ability to work in an international and multicultural environment.

The Watsan Training and Development Center is offering a short course in Community Water and Sanitation. This course is a broad, intense short course with a heavy practical bias, providing a rare opportunity to young professionals and students to acquaint themselves with water and sanitation problems that may be present in communities in their working area and to enable them to jointly with community members, find possibilities to improve upon the situation. 


The course is invaluable to both those who need more technical input for their work, as well as for those interested in working with NGOs/INGOs but lack the basic technical and theoretical background in community water and sanitation.

On successful completion of this course participants will be able to:

Design and implement appropriate and sustainable solutions to water supply and sanitation for small, rural communities in particular in developing countries, with due regard to the technical, social and institutional constraints imposed by the surrounding environment

Assess water supply and sanitation needs for communities in villages and refugee camps
 

Plan and implement water source evaluation and development programmes, including low-cost well drilling
 

Facilitate community participation and management projects and programmes

Evaluate the health impacts of community water supply and sanitation systems.

The course is offered by distance learning and can be completed within two months. On REQUEST, a certificate is issued upon successfully completion of the course.

Program Monitoring & Evaluation Officer – Ref. No: KCO/M&E/CRH/007/2013 The position reports to the M&E Manager and is based in Nairobi.
 

Purpose of the Job:-
To provide M&E technical expertise and support Program activities and implementation in close collaboration with the Program team.
 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:- 

Participate in strengthening existing M&E systems in the C&RH Program and at the AMREF Kenya Country Office level.

Support projects to set up M&E systems to capture key performance indicators for purposes of regular reporting and data use at the point of collection.

Provide technical input in preparation and review of donor and projects reports.

Act as the M&E technical lead for C&RH Program planning, monitoring, evaluation, learning and accountability.

Conduct on-site and off-site mentorship and provide M&E support to project managers and their staff in the specific projects.

Support projects in implementation of quality improvement activities.

Take lead in program surveys.

Support the project implementation team in operations research, documentation of lessons learnt and best practices.

Ensure Program integration and growth by participating in meetings, conferences and provide support in proposal development.
 

Qualifications and Competencies:-
 

The ideal candidate should have a first degree in Statistics, Social Sciences or its equivalent, with four (4) years of relevant M&E experience and professional training in M&E. The person should possess advanced report writing skills, excellent database management skills (SQL, Access, Excel), and exceptional analytical skills (STATA, SAS or SPSS). Experience in project management, health programs and conversant with various donor and government M&E systems in Kenya are essential. S/he must possess superior quantitative and qualitative skills as well as remarkable communication and interpersonal skills. S/he must be a person of high integrity, discretion and personal conduct who is also flexible and adaptable to changing working conditions. Should be self-motivated, proactive, with good judgment and initiative and is able to prioritize, meet deadlines and work in a multicultural environment.
